On Thursday 26th and Friday 27th March each of us is required to deliver a short 5-10 minute presentation about our final major projects to a small group of peers. The learning outcomes of this include being able to present and speak about our project, as well as being about to present a personal self directed project to a specified audience.

To help me make sure that my presentation includes relevant information, I am making brief notes based on these points from my tutor:

Give a short overview of your project theme and concept – basically what your project is about. You should include a mood board.

I have called my project ‘Fashion through the decades.’ It explores the fashion industry and how it has changed throughout time. I hope to create a series of images that represent the fashion of each decade, from the 20s to the 90s. My images will act like a timeline. In particular, I have decided to recreate covers of Vogue from each decade.

Who are your key influences?

I am influenced by many fashion photographers, both past and present, including Mario Testino, George Hurrell, and Helmut Newton. George Hurrell in particular creates amazing 1930s glamour style portraits which I have taken inspiration from.

What primary research have you done?

I have recently visited an exhibition where I got an understanding of how I would like my work to be displayed in the summer show.

I have created a survey which will enable me to find out other people’s opinions on the history of fashion.

What is your plan e.g. time scales, equipment, models. Locations etc?

I have already created a time plan which I will refer to throughout my project. It includes when I will be carrying out practical work as well as planning and evaluations. As for equipment and locations, I will be shooting in the lighting studio at college and using the colleges equipment.

You must show images from at least 1 shoot, good and not so good.

I am yet to carry out a shoot.

What is your rough budget.

I plan to spend the majority of my budget on my final prints, as I want them to be of high quality. I will also be focusing on spending my money on any props that I want and makeup for the models.

Are you stuck with anything?

At this current moment I am finding everything okay and am not struggling with anything.
